- Includes both underground and above-ground sections, crossing the River Seine above ground.
- 38 stations.
- Total track length of approximately 23.4 km (14.5 miles).
Historical and Current Curiosities
Interesting facts about Line 8 of the Paris Metro:
- It is the only line in the Paris Metro that crosses the River Seine both above and below ground, including an aerial bridge built by the Eiffel company between Charenton - Écoles and École Vétérinaire de Maisons-Alfort stations.
- Originally designed to connect Opéra with Porte d'Auteuil, it has been substantially modified over the years, extending to the Créteil suburb in southeastern Paris.
- Among its stations are cultural and tourist landmarks such as Madeleine, the Opéra Garnier, and the Grands Boulevards.
- Richelieu-Drouot station is notable for a monument commemorating Metro employees who died in service, designed by Carlo Sarrabezolles in 1931.
- Bonne Nouvelle station is decorated with a cinema theme, inspired by the "Hollywood" sign and offers information about the history of cinema on its platforms.
