General Data
Description of Line 10 of the Paris Metro:
- Inaugurated in 1923.
- Colour: Amber.
- Combines underground sections with a short elevated stretch near the Seine.
- 23 stations.
- Total track length of approximately 11.7 km (7.3 miles).
Historical and Current Curiosities
- Line 10 has a complex history of route modifications and replacements, including temporary exchanges of sections with Lines 7 and 8.
- It contains a ghost station, Croix-Rouge, closed since 1939, located between the stations Sèvres-Babylone and Mabillon.
- Originally operated with MA 51 trains, Line 10 was fully re-equipped with MF 67 trains between 1988 and 1994 due to the inefficiency of the previous model.
- A standout curiosity is that the walls of Line 10's tunnels are painted white, a unique feature that provides greater brightness compared to other metro lines.
- Cluny - La Sorbonne station is notable for its ceiling decorated with mosaics featuring the signatures of famous Sorbonne students, such as Arthur Rimbaud and Georges Sand.
