Description of Line 7 of the Paris Metro:
- Opened on 5 November 1910.
- Colour: Pink.
- Runs entirely underground from northeast to southeast of the city.
- 38 stations, with a branch dividing the line into two distinct directions in the south.
- Total track length of approximately 18.6 km (11.6 miles).
Historical and Current Curiosities
Interesting facts about Line 7 of the Paris Metro:
- It is one of only two metro lines in Paris that branches, and it has the largest number of stations.
- With 135.1 million passengers in 2017, it is the fourth most-used line of the Paris Metro.
- The station La Courneuve - 8 mai 1945 features a decoration of black birds on a white background, representing sunrise and sunset on both sides of the station.
- The station Cadet is decorated with the colours of the American flag and an image of a rider in commemoration of the American War of Independence.
- At Chaussée d'Antin Lafayette station, you can admire a 470 m² fresco on the ceiling depicting the Marquis de Lafayette and the New World, installed for the bicentenary of the French Revolution.
- Pont Neuf station evokes the Paris Mint (Monnaie de Paris), with reproductions of coins along its walls.
- There are future plans to extend the line from La Courneuve towards Le Bourget.
- The branch of Line 7, known as 7bis, could merge with Line 3bis to form a new line with its western terminal at Château-Landon on Line 7.
